Case #7: Apartment Complex Basement

Intro:

We had recruited some new members, and we needed to train them on how to investigate. Luckily enough for us, one of our members knows the manager of an apartment complex in Tacoma, Washington. He gave us permission to investigate some of the rooms in the basement floor of the complex, so we were very lucky. Even though this investigation was for training, we still decided that it would be in the best interest of everybody involved to go into it like it was a true investigation. We collaborated with the manager, and decided that we would investigate on the night of July 17th, 2010. There were no claims of activity in the basement of the complex.

Investigation:

We started setting up the investigation at 8:00pm on the 17th. With out trainees, there were 6 investigators total. We had two rooms that we set up our equipment in. The first was the laundry room for the complex, which was also where our command center was set up. We had one IR camera set in this room, as well as a sound recorder. The other room was a storage room of the complex. We set up the same equipment in this room, one IR camera and one stationary sound recorder. We began to investigate the storage room. Three members went in first, while the other three stayed and watched at command central. They brought with them our digital camcorder and one sound recorder to conduct E.V.P.s. The group then began to conduct an E.V.P. session. Since this was training, there was much that was discussed about how to conduct investigations, but there were plenty of questions asked. After about an hour in the storage room, the first team left, and the second team then entered. The same process was then repeated, starting with an E.V.P. session, and having much discussion on conduction. After an hour this team left the storage room. The entire group then converged in the laundry room, discussing much more investigative techniques. After another hour, we decided to call it a night, at around 11:00pm.

Reviewing the evidence:

After reviewing all evidence, we found no paranormal activity in either the laundry room or storage room. We relayed this information to the Apartment manager.

Conclusion:

While the case wasn't much of a success as far as the paranormal is concerned, it was a total success as a training session. There was a good amount of questions being asked, as well as techniques taught. With the vast amount of evidence collected, it was successful in showing our members how tedious the review process can be. Overall, it was a very good experience, and if any claims of evidence comes up here in the future, we will definitely be available to investigate again.
